Rotisserie

Rotisserie

A suitable spit for every barbecue food

Rotisserie in its original sense is the preparation of a whole animal, e.g. duck, rabbit, suckling pig or lamb, over an open fire. The bonfire atmosphere as well as the constantly turning of the goods have a special appeal.

THÜROS Spit with x2 meat clamps

The spit with meat clamps is suited especially for bigger meat cuts, poultry as a whole or rolled roast. If you like to barbecue more meat cuts on your THÜROS T3 or THÜROS T4 that cannot be hold by just the x2 meat clamps, you can use a double-sided meat clamp to support the cuts in between the two regular clamps.

THÜROS Spit with x4 skewers

The spit with skewers is suitable for meat cuts or rolled roast which are not tightened with laces or are not homogeneous in size. Four smaller skewers steady the meat cuts around the main spit. Furthermore, the four skewers can be used for smaller meat cuts like shish kebab.

THÜROS meat basket

The THÜROS meat basket is available for THÜROS T3 and THÜROS T4. It is also suitable especially for grilling rolled roast or big meat cuts. An advantage of the meat basket is that it does not pierce the meat as it does not have a main spit in the middle.

Place your roast into the meat basket and close it. Like this more meat juice stays inside the roast as it has not been cut. The basket is adjustable for various sizes of barbecue goods. It has space for meat with an diameter of 9,5 cm up to 16 cm.

Rotisserie with a swivelling hood

THÜROS offers a swivelling hood for the barbecues THÜROS T3 and THÜROS T4. The hood will be mounted on the top of the barbecue and fixed with skewers. This swivelling hood can be equipped with a special rotisserie set.

The rotisserie set consists of a main spit, x2 meat clamps, a counterweight and x2 nuts to have fixed points where the spit is placed in the swivelling hood. It is suited especially for bigger meat cuts, poultry as a whole or rolled roast.

Instructions
Every THÜROS grill can be equipped with a water pan made of stainless steel which will be placed in the middle of the charcoal tray. Depending on where the water pan has been placed, fill up charcoal or briquettes into the reamaining tray. Fill the water pan with water or water plus herbs an light up the charcoal/ briquettes.

Then, fix the first meat clamp on the main spit. After that, add the food. Depending on the type of food, this can be done by piercing through it or wrapping it around the spit. Secure the food by using the second meat clamp. Before mounting it on the spit, turn the meat clamp 90° to ensure that both clamps intertwine, especially when grilling smaller pieces of meat.

After preparing the spit, place the spit into the fixed points and connect it into the motor. Like this, the spit is over the water pan and all the fat, marinades and so on drip into it.

Then, close the swivelling hood so that the heat builds up. Due to the water in the water pan, the spit gains moisture and keeps the meat juicy as it is grilled indirect with the heat of the embers.

If it is necessary to add more charcoal/ briquettes, it is recommended to light them up beforehand in a chimney starter. Then, you can add coals that are already prepared and do not have to take the spit off and wait until the new coals are ready. In case of evaporated water, refill the water pan with warmed up water.

The temperature can be controlled by the thermometer that is mounted on the swivelling hood. To regulate the temperature, use the air regulations at the bottom of the flue and the air vents in the swivelling hood.

Rotisserie with a wind deflector

The THÜROS mountable wind deflector is one of the most recommended attachment of THÜROS GmbH.
It provides the option to adjust the cooking grate in two heights, deflects the wind and to add more accessories to it, f.e. a rotisserie set.

Instructions for using a spit with meat clamps
For all barbecue variations of THÜROS T2, T3 and T4 a stainless steel drip pan is available. It is placed on top of the barbecue in exchange to the cooking grate and can be filled with some water. The needed heat for grilling with rotisserie is provided by a charcoal burner for lateral heat that is available for all flue barbecues THÜROS T2, T3 and T4. It is recommended to fill it with charcoal or briquettes that has been lighted up beforehand. If it is necessary to add more charcoal/ briquettes, it is recommended to light them up beforehand in a chimney starter as well. The needed motor is fixed on one side of the wind deflector in the provided cutouts.

After preparing the spit, place the spit into the cutouts and connect it into the motor. Like this, the spit is over the water pan and all the fat, marinades and so on drip into it.

Due to the water in the water pan, the spit gains moisture and keeps the meat juicy as it is grilled indirect with the heat of the embers.

Instructions for using a spit with skewers
The spit with four skewers is used the same as the spit with meat clamps. Just while preparing the spit, it differs. Pierce your meat through with the main spit or wrap it around it. Fix the food with the four skewers as well as the skewer connections. As an alternative you can use the four skewers for shish kebab and mount it on the main spit.

Instructions for using a meat basket
The THÜROS meat basket is available for THÜROS T3 and THÜROS T4. The usage is the same as the other two spits. The meat basket consists of two parts which are connected with the wind deflector by two axes. Open the two halves of the basket and place the food inside. Then, close it to put it on the barbecue.
